Gibbons is an archaeologist focused on the historical ecology of anthropogenic, second-nature landscapes. His research centers on exploring morphometric variation in sheep bones throughout the previous millennium in Iceland and coupling these trends with long-term erosional data to ask questions around land degradation and the social/economic justice of landscapes.
